Find the perfect ball

The choice of balls in Vienna is truly vast. For example, there is the Opera Ball, the Rose Ball, the Johann Strauss Ball, the Philharmonic Ball, the Doctors' Ball or the Academics' Ball - each one wonderful in its own way. Choose one or more and look forward to a unique experience.
To make it easier for you to choose the right ball, we have put together an overview of the balls of the season 2025.

Beautiful ball venues

The balls take place in some of the most beautiful locations in the Austrian capital. As well as dancing the night away, you can discover some of Vienna's most beautiful locations. Visit the imposing State Opera, the Hofburg or the City Hall and experience the magical atmosphere of the balls.
Festive, traditional, stylish and super chic - there is a strict dress code at Viennese balls. Ladies wear long evening gowns and men wear tuxedos or tailcoats. Not only does this look beautiful, but it also upholds the tradition of what is arguably the most magical time of the year. Balls are traditionally opened with a polonaise of young ladies in white dresses and their escorts. Only then are the magic words uttered: 'Alles Walzer', inviting you onto the dance floor. Enjoy the magic of these words and dance until the early hours of the morning!

Our little ball guide

Once you have decided which ball to go to and secured one of the coveted tickets, you will be looking forward to an unforgettable night out in Vienna. To help you prepare, we have put together a little ball guide for you:
•    Make sure you are dressed for the occasion - each ball has its own dress code.
•    You can also rent ball gowns and tuxedos for your event in Vienna. Just make sure you do this early enough to find the right outfit.
•    Do not wear a wristwatch and do not take off your jacket or tails.
•    Remember the ladies' donation - a small gift for the lady.
•    Practice the Viennese waltz in advance.
•    The quadrille is danced at midnight sharp - it's the highlight of most balls and you don't want to miss it.
•    You are welcome to dance with other guests (remember the ladies' dance card), but the first and last dance belongs to your date.

•    Try on your dress or tuxedo a few weeks before the ball in case of any last-minute changes.
•    Book appointments with your hairdresser, manicurist and pedicurist well in advance.
•    Practice your dance moves in advance.
•    Make sure you book your taxi in advance to avoid long waits.
•    Remember to bring enough cash, your ticket and, if you're a man, your cufflinks.
•    Take a camera with you to capture the best moments for eternity.
